LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – “It hurts,” said Peter Blaney, Cameron Blaney’s father.
Cameron Blaney, 17, Charles Lanham, 19, and Shelley Lanham, 20, were all killed in a car accident on Taylor Blvd around 1 a.m. Sunday.
“It really really hurts to lose him,” Blaney said.
Both Cameron and Charles lived with Peter. Charles married Peter’s daughter and the two had their first child nine months ago. The three were headed back from Shelly’s house when they were struck by a northbound car, according to Blaney.
He and his daughter did not know where the three were until the tow truck drove by with the two cars from the accident.
“[My daughter] was like, that’s Shelly’s car,” he said.
University Hospital confirmed Shelly was transported to them, but Peter could not get any kind of information about Cameron until the coroner called.
"And I was like, does he have a tattoo on his chest? Cameron just got a tattoo. And that's when the coroner told me, ‘Yeah that's your son.’” Blaney said.
Cameron frequently stayed home to help his dad after Peter suffered a stroke.
“He’s in ROTC,” Blaney said. “He’s gone from about 240 pounds to about 169.’
Charles and Cameron worked to help Peter pay the bills while he recovers.
“They’ve been picking up little side jobs,” he said.
A fund has been set up to help pay for Cameron’s funeral costs at Fifth Third Bank. You can donate at any of their locations.
