SAN FRANCISCO (WHAS11) – The family of a young man stabbed to death at a baseball game in California is begging the public for information.
Police say on Wednesday, a fight broke out at a bar near the San Francisco Giants’ stadium which ended with 24-year-old Jonathan Denver’s death.
Denver’s family gathered at AT&T Park’s iconic Willie Mays statue to express their heartbreak.
“You almost understand how difficult it is. Losing a child is a heartache no one should have to endure,” the victim’s father Robert Preece said.
Preece says he believes bystanders may have recorded the fight on cell phones and wants any recordings turned over to police.
A 21-year-old man suspected of stabbing Denver was released from jail last week. Attorneys say they don’t have enough evidence to charge him with murder.
