LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Family and friends gathered in Louisville for a vigil to pay tribute to Brandon Mudd.

The 19-year-old passed away Sunday at University Hospital after being in a coma for two weeks.

Police say Mudd ran a stop sign at the intersection of South Third and Kenton Streets near Churchill Downs when a UPS truck t-boned his car.

Friends and family of Mudd say the tragedy is unbearable.

“He had a heart that was bigger than anyone that I knew. He cared for everyone that he met. He will never be forgotten,” friend Nico Casper said.

19-year-old Kendall Daub died at the scene.

Both Mudd and Daub were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The driver of the UPS truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
