Another Louisville fire district is in trouble.
Fairdale's Fire Chief Don Wittery says the department is running out of money and options.
He says if something isn't done soon, cuts may be necessary. He's been trying to stretch his budget as much as possible but says the money is running out.
Wittery plans to use money saved for a new fire truck to make up part of the $85,000 per year deficit.
With 80% of the department's revenue going to labor costs, the remaining 20% isn't enough to cover the rest.
Like the Lyndon Fire Chief, Fairdale thinks raising the tax cap could be the answer to their budget problems.
Chief Wittery plans to cut some EMS runs in the meantime to save money.
