(WHAS11 Political Blog) -- The Kentucky State Fair Board will meet Friday to discuss a search committee's recommendations for a new Fair Board president.
The committee is chaired by Fair Board member Tom Schifano who has indicated that it intends to name one candidate.
Workman, Fair Board President and CEO since 1993, announced his plans to resign earlier this year amid a controversy involving the management of the KFC Yum! Center and signals of a lack of support from Governor Steve Beshear.
The Fair Board has called two special meetings for Friday, an executive session at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and a second meeting in the Executive Boardroom of the Kentucky Exposition Center.
