HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) -- A man released from Illinois death row due to a wrongful conviction in the 1986 deaths of a newlywed couple is speaking this month at Northern Kentucky University.
Randy Steidl (STY'-del) is speaking at an event sponsored by the Northern Kentucky University Chase American Constitution Society, the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky and the Kentucky Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty.
Steidl spent 17 years in prison, including 12 on death row before he was released in 2004. A judge released another defendant in the case in 2008.
