LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two people were slightly injured Friday morning after a fire broke out just after 5 at the Extended Stay America hotel on Browns Lane.

Officials said a firefighter and a guest suffered minor injuries. The guest was taken to Norton Suburban Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.  It was reported the firefighter was struck in the face while working the fire and was taken to the hospital to be checked for a possible concussion.

The fire started in a wall on the first floor and spread, firefighters said, filling all three levels with smoke. They also said the flames caused a pipe to burst and that helped to extinguish the fire.

While firefighters said they know where the fire started, they aren't not sure at this time what caused the fire.

We will have more about this developing story coming up on WHAS11 News at Noon.
