ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) – A family is now homeless after a fire destroyed their apartment on Terry Court Tuesday morning.

Linette Quanmina moved into the duplex with her husband, and their seven kids, a couple months ago in September.

The kids were at school, and she was shopping when she found out her apartment was destroyed.

“I was devastated,” she said.

The U.S. Navy recently deployed her husband to San Diego.  She says they lost their furniture, photos, and all the kids’ clothes.

The Red Cross will provide shelter for a week, and the Navy is letting her husband come home for the weekend.  She says everything is replaceable, and is just glad no one was hurt.

The fire department is still investigating for an official cause.
