NELSON COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It's the kind of burglary straight out of a movie.
Harnesses, Ropes and helmet lights were all used to break into Blazers Mini-Mart in Bloomfield in Nelson County.
The burglars’ elaborate plot has residents and deputies perplexed. In Mission Impossible, Tom Cruise goes to great lengths to break in and avoid being caught.
And apparently this kind of stunt isn't just Hollywood magic just ask Greg Martin.
"It was pretty bizarre," owner Greg Martin said.
Burglars climbed the roof and used power tools to cut a hole in the roof to get in.
They took the metal loose and then physically beat a hole through the roof," Martin said.
A duffle bag with tools was lowered via rope and the burglars entered above a walk in freezer, jumped to the floor and busted through the office to steal more than $1,200 and a safe.
"Maybe it's someone familiar with putting this type of system in or security. They would know there are typically not cameras above a walk in cooler," Martin said.
He has surveillance cameras, but they managed to disable them by turning them to the ceiling. Once outside, something startled them and they left behind that safe and a duffle bag of more interesting tools.
"They had torches, small torches. I don’t know whether they were going to cut into the safe or something," Martin said.
The Nelson County Sheriff's office is investigating and says this is far more sophisticated than most crimes.
"I’m hoping that if somebody was in that area around that time may have seen something," Sheriff Stephen Campbell said.
