ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit is this year's featured guest at They're Off Luncheon

Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - He is the face of college football on ESPN, and today he helped to kick of the Kentucky Festival They're Off Luncheon at the Galt House.

This year's featured guest speaker was ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit.

"It's an honor; I've been coming to Oaks and Derby for over a decade. It's a highlight I didn't even know. (This) was a great honor," he said.

Herbstreit joined ESPN's College Gameday in 1996. He's called the last eight Rose Bowl games and the last six BCS National Championship games.

Herbstreit has been nominated seven times for the Sports Emmy Award.

The They're Off Luncheon has been in place since 1957.
