LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A dog that went missing from Louisville 17 months ago is set to be reunited with its owners after she was found in Pittsburgh.
Sassy the dog fell ill over the weekend and her foster family took her to the vet. The vet scanned Sassy and found her microchip.
Hope Wilson and April Smith, who have been fostering Sassy, said they knew she was in a shelter, but never knew she was microchipped.
"They scanned her and sure enough, microchipped. I'm thinking, 'are you serious?' I was in total disbelief and they said 'yeah, she is and her name is Sassy.' As soon as they said 'Sassy,' her head turned and I said 'are you Sassy,' and her tail started wagging right away," Smith said.
So, how did Sassy end up in Pittsburgh?
She ran away from home months ago and ended up in Kentucky kill shelter - that's where members from the Forever Home Beagle Rescue Group save her and she ended up in Pittsburgh.
