LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The daughter of late Metro Councilwoman Judy Green has now filed to run for the district her mother served for years.
Late Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 28, Jessica Green filed to run for the Metro Council's District One seat.
It's the district her mother--Judy Green--resigned from before she was ousted from office in 2011.
She was accused of using grant money to fund a program that benefited her family.
Jessica Green says she is running on her own name.
“The bottom line is I’m running as Jessica Green. I’m not running as Judy Green or anything like that. I think that people know my mother but people know the work that I’ve done and how passionate I am,” Jessica Green said.
Metro Councilwoman Attica Scott took over District One after Judy Green and has filed to run again for that seat.
Jessica Green says she's getting plenty of the support from the community to run.
