LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Bardstown Road became a race course for bicyclists, skaters, dancers and more for Louisville’s second “CycLouVia” event.
A three mile stretch of the street was closed down to drivers Sunday afternoon and turned into a linear park where people could walk, bike and even do some yoga.
The goal was to get residents out of their cars so they could experience a healthier way to get around.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer took part in the event and was thrilled as the success.
“Look at how many thousands of people are out here. They love getting outside, kids love cruising down Bardstown Road. We’ve got more smiles out here than any place,” he said.
Mayor Fischer says there will be two more events in the coming months with one being on Frankfort Avenue and the other on West Broadway.
