LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Mayor Greg Fischer said his plan to keep children engaged this summer and out of trouble seems to be working.

So far, the city has handed out more than 40,000 cultural passes.

The passes allow children and a chaperon to visit local museums and attractions for free, including the Louisville Zoo and the Kentucky Science Center.

The passes were the brainchild of "Vision Louisville," the program designed to keep kids learning throughout the summer and introduce them to new cultural experiences.

If you haven't gotten your cultural pass yet, it's not too late.

You can pick one up at any branch of the Louisville Free Public Library.

The passes are valid through August 13.
