LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – WHAS11 News has confirmed that several employees of the Courier-Journal have been laid off in a newsroom restructure including longtime journalists in management.

The positions of Jean Porter, the managing editor and longtime Metro editor Mike Trautmann, were two of the 7 cut.

Porter is a C-J veteran of 31 years. Trautmann had also worked at the paper for 14 years.

Nancy Jo Trafton, Courier-Journal’s marketing director, told WHAS11 that no reporters or journalists covering specific beats were touched in the layoffs.

Trafton says the newspaper would also be creating new positions.

After a series of cuts in 2011, WHAS11 reported the Courier-Journal had laid off 145 employees since 2008.
