Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- The Jefferson County constable accused of shooting an accused shoplifter in a Wal-Mart parking lot has rejected a plea deal.
The deal would have prohibited David Whitlock from ever working in law enforcement again.
However, it would also have reduced his charges and avoided a trial.
Whitlock is accused of shooting and wounding Tammie Ortiz.
Whitlock's attorney advised him to take the deal, but Whitlock said he refused.
He will now go to trial in January and faces up to 15 years in prison if he is convicted.
