LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—A historic building across the street from Iroquois Park is going to be preserved and redeveloped.
The Colonial Gardens is going to be turned into a restaurant and retail location.
The building dates back to 1902 and was once the famed Sennings Beer Garden and Petting Zoo, a mini amusement park in the area.
The city’s economic director told the Louisville Courier-Journal that the Underhill family, local developers, will invest more than $2 million into the project.
The location could have as many as five dining locations.
The city recently purchased the property and sat on it to save it, after a battle broke out over the future of the historic site.
