LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It's hard to imagine that during the time of tournament basketball college football teams are starting spring practice.
And the UofL practice on Friday, March 22, was making news because a prominent coach, Clint Hurtt, was missing from the practice field.
During spring practice Charlie Strong spent a lot of time working with the Cards defensive line which is Clint Hurtt's position Hurtt was not present.
UofL head coach, Charlie Strong, confirmed to Cardinal Authority that Hurtt is indeed on an administrative leave.
In his interview with Cardinal Authority, Coach Strong said they are giving Hurtt enough time where he can just concentrate on his case.
After practice Strong was asked about Hurtt and he said the Cards assistant coach is on administrative leave so he can concentrate on his case with the NCAA. Hurtt faces several violations by the NCAA from his time as an assistant at Miami, most notably violating the principles of ethical conduct.
The NCAA claims Hurtt provided false and misleading information in their investigation. Hurtt disagrees with some of the charges and intends to fight them.
Hurtt officially received his notice of allegations from the NCAA in February and until May 20 to answer the NCAA.
Louisville Athletic Director Tom Jurich told fans in February not to worry about the alleged violations because none of it involved UofL's team and that Hurtt is fighting the allegations.
