CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – Members of the Clarksville Fire Department spent their Thursday in the Ohio River training to save people from dangerous situations in the water.

“It’s a very physical class – very demanding and it brings most guys to their comfort limits. Not something you do every day,” Chief James Hendrick said.

The Clarksville Dive Team was originally established back in the 1990’s but over the years, members declined.

A new grant issued to the team means 10 new divers can be trained assisting with scenes including drowning and crimes.

The cost to train each diver is $10,000.
