(WHAS11) - Have you ever wondered exactly where all your tax dollars go? Now you can find out with the click of a mouse.

Wednesday, the city unveiled the newest portal, “Louisville Checkbook” on its website.

You can track everything from government employee salaries to how much each department spends on things like light bulbs.

The site allows you to sort by department, vendor, or even what revenue source is used to pay.  It comes after an ordinance passed by the metro council requiring more transparency in the city's finances.

A company called Net-tango designed the website at no charge. They plan to link up the text of government contracts in the future.
