LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Churchill Downs Incorporated says their online wagering site, Twinspires.com was recently the victim of a cyber-attack that exposed some personal information of about 20 percent of their customers.
According to Churchill Downs security experts, there is no evidence any usernames, passwords, credit card or bank account information was accessed. Hackers were only able to access names, date of birth, email addresses and completely encrypted social security numbers.
Representatives from Churchill Downs would not disclose how many customers they have or exactly how many were affected, but they say it's less than 20 percent of their customers.
They have arranged with Experian for those affected to have services that include credit monitoring of all three credit bureaus for a year.
TwinSpires.com is providing a hotline that is staffed with representatives specially trained to help affected customers with any questions. Customers with questions can call toll-free at #888-451-6559 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday.
Churchill Downs says all affected customers should have already been contacted. Click to see a copy of the security breach letter.
