LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Christmas Eve came early for parents at Baptist Hospital East.
Plenty of Christmas Eve babies were born and instead of them donning traditional blankets, babies were wrapped in Christmas stockings.
Most of the parents weren’t expecting this particular due date but it became an ultimate gift.
“I didn’t want her to be born this close to Christmas. I actually thought it was the worst birthday ever,” mother Morgan Calkin said. “This is the best Christmas present we could have asked for.”
The nursery staff started the holiday tradition nearly 17 years ago.
The stockings are bought from money made in bake sales, gift shop sales, and other activities.
