LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – If you traveled down Bardstown Road Sunday, you might have noticed a block party in progress.

It was to welcome a new neighbor and a new type of store for a Louisville business.

Carmichael’s Books opened up a children’s bookstore a block away from their main location also on Bardstown Road.

The store owners say electronic books just cannot replace the children’s book experience and it’s remained a strong industry.

They will still offer children’s books at their Frankfort location but hope this new store gives parents in other neighborhoods the chance to get their kids hooked on reading.

“We just wanted to be able to offer a wider selection of the books that we have always had – just go deeper. Then toys and games and fun stuff like that,” the manager said.

The location will be open 7 days a week.

This is Carmichael’s third bookstore.
