CHARLESTOWN, Ind. (WHAS11) – A public meeting was held Monday evening in the Karate Building to discuss a plan in the Pleasant Ridge subdivision, an area tagged for redevelopment.

Residents are worried they will be asked to move out if the city gets a grant to transform their neighborhood.

Mayor Bob Hall met with a few residents in early June and explained the city is simply working on approval for a grant to improve blighted areas.

For those worried about their homes, it still doesn’t sit well.

"The mayor bob hall is partering with private developers to buy us out as cheap as possible, we work, we pay our taxes, we build our home, we pay for our home," resident Michael Quire said.

Quire says he just wants the value of his home to be realistic.
