LEBANON JUNCTION, Ky. (WHAS11) – More than a year and a half after an arsonist torched a Bullitt County church, a groundbreaking was celebrated as a new start for the congregation.

Dennie Memorial United Methodist Church burned down in June 2012 with more than 100 crews aiding to put out the blaze.

Since then, the pastor has been holding services in another building. Construction began Saturday morning on a new church at Main and Brook Streets.

We’re told the new building will be larger than the previous one and will include upgrades such as a bigger sanctuary and nursery.

Construction is expected to be complete in 6 months.
