BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11) – Bullitt County’s school district has canceled 13 days of school this winter season.
The Board of Education voted to use February 14 and 17 as make up snow days.
The move avoids pushing classes into summer break.
Keith Davis, superintendent of Bullitt County Schools, says it was a decision that wasn’t weighed lightly and it’s one that won’t please everyone.
"It’s not a decision that will please anyone, it didn't please me, it didn't please the board members, it'll please maybe half of the parents and children and displease the other half but those decisions are never popular but it's an emergency, it's the most days we've missed in 30 years and they've all been good calls,” he said.
Davis says making the decision to have school on the alternate days means there will be no school on Kentucky Oaks Day.
