Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - The future of the Ohio River Bridges Project continues to focus on funding.

On Thursday, the Bridges Authority said tolls and federal dollars could be the solution.

The Kentucky-Indiana Bridges Authority met in Jeffersonville, Indiana to discuss the financial future of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

The group talked about electronic tolls and additional federal funding to meet the $4.1 billion project budget.

Before the meeting, the organization "Say No to Bridge Tolls" revealed its plan to cut millions from the proposed cost.

The group says $260 million is being wasted on a tunnel to go under the Drumanard estate in the east end of Louisville.

The group says it is working to deregister the estate.

Steve Wiser, a local historian and architect said, "The Drumanard estate itself has just developed a few of those acres. So there is a bunch of wooded land there that an interstate can go through - above ground - without impacting any of the supposed historic features of the Drumanard."

In a letter to the Federal Highway Administration, the Bridges Authority Board had asked permission to toll drivers on all of the existing bridges.

That includes the Kennedy, the Sherman Minton, and the Second Street Bridge.

On a related note, on July 7th, members of the Kentucky Transportation Association will meet with members of the community at Browning's to discuss the impact the bridges construction could have on downtown Louisville, and the Butchertown neighborhood.
