LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- The break-ins have been happening over the last three months but it's really intensified within the last two weeks.
LMPD said resident’s homes, cars and garages are being targeted in Bellwood, Brownsboro Village and Druid Hills.
In Druid Hills, it is the talk of the neighborhood.
"They are not going for the major stuff like jewelry. They are going for the small stuff that they can pawn," Jim Bealmar, a Druid Hills resident, said.
Neighbors were talking to neighbors warning them of a rash of break-ins in the area. Within two weeks Bealmar said several houses were hit.
“This one got broke in the most. They got through the glass. This one had a fence down . And over here they went in the side door,” Bealmar said. “When he came Friday night he saw his bike on the ground and someone had pushed the door open.”
Neighbor Jackie Gibbs said on Thursday someone tried to get in her locked gate to her back yard. Her neighbors have been targeted as well.
"If we go to the corner the second house was broke into a couple of times really quickly and they had two boxers.” Gibbs said.
In most cases small items are taken like sunglasses, GPS's and garden supplies, but what concerns people here is that it's happening in the middle of day.
So the neighbors are taking action, looking out for each other and stepping up security.
"My wife is retired from Murray and actually she is concerned about it so we are having a security system installed on Tuesday and we have never done that," Bealmar said.
LMPD 5th division has stepped up patrols in marked and unmarked cars in the area.
