LONDON, Ky. (AP) -- A southern Kentucky teenager has been killed while riding all-terrain vehicles with friends.
The Laurel County coroner identified the victim as 16-year-old Andrew Gregory. Sheriff's deputies said the youth was thrown from his ATV, which then landed on him late Monday afternoon. The accident occurred near London.
Gregory had become separated from two friends, who were also riding ATVs, according to WKYT-TV in Lexington (http://bit.ly/zt1b5x ).
The friends circled back when they hadn't seen Gregory in several minutes and found him dead. Deputy Gilbert Acciardo said it appeared the youth lost control of the vehicle, struck a bank and overturned.
The coroner's office said he died of a crushed chest.
