LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Mayor Greg Fisher helped get Derby week started right with a bourbon toast!
Fischer was at the Brown Hotel Monday morning to unveil plans to make Louisville the world's best city for food and spirits.
According to a report released Monday, Louisville has a unique opportunity to grow tourism by taking advantage of the popularity of bourbon.
The Bourbon and Food Work Group, appointed by Fischer in December, came up with six major recommendations, including a bourbon visitor center and a bourbon and food festival.
"So this is new type of tourism. We all know what we call this new type of tourism, we call it - Bourbonism. So, get engaged with bourbonism and come out an see our tourist activities," Fisher said.
