LOUISVILLE, Ky. (louisvillezoo.org) -- Make a splash at the Louisville Zoo Aug. 4 and 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during Water Wows! Join Spider-Man and our other special guests will be on hand to help teach little ones how important water is to us and to life on planet earth. The Louisville Water Company will have several stations setup throughout the Zoo full of fun hands-on activities and information perfect for kids.
Be sure to bring your camera - Spider-Man and the other characters will be making appearances throughout the day to have their photo taken with guests.
And don't forget about the Name the Bongos Contest. The Louisville Zoo and Floyd Memorial Birthing Center invite you to help name three beautiful new Bongo calves born in May.
The deadline to submit names is midnight Aug. 5.
Zoo keepers will select three sets of names as finalists (3 names per set) and the public will then be invited to vote on the selected sets of names beginning Aug. 9–19. Votes can be placed by making a contribution via coins or bills into slots in the kiosk representing a favorite set of names. The set of names with the highest total donations will be the winner and announced the week of Aug. 27.
All proceeds support the Zoo’s efforts to provide excellent care for animals, a great Zoo experience for you, and important conservation education programs.
Names must be submitted using the standard western alphabet (Roman or Latin alphabet). If African names are provided, English translations (the meaning of the names) and proper pronunciation must also be provided. Only sets of three names will be considered. Individual names will not be eligible.
