LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A local organization that offers mentoring to young children while building communities held its annual bowling event.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana held their Celebrity Bowl at the AMF Rose Bowl on Goldsmith Lane. It’s part of the organization’s Bowl for Kids Sake campaign.
Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad and other high-ranking LMPD officials were on hand for the event hitting the lanes with some “bigs” and “littles.”
“I’ve think I’ve been a lot more mature than I was before I was in the program. Not acting out as much as you usually do because there’s actually somebody out there who’s trying to help you,” Little Brother Anthony Mucker said.
UPS and Croft Motors helped sponsor the event.
Bow for Kids Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ biggest fundraiser of the year.
It costs an estimated $1500 per match to do background checks and other support work before a child is matched with a mentor.
Bowl for Kids Sake runs through May.
