BEREA, Ky. (AP) -- A recycling plant in Berea is being lauded for going over one million hours without a lost-time injury to one of its workers.

Novelis Inc. and its 120 employees have been been given the Governor's Safety and Health Award.

They have worked 1,251,330 hours without an injury or illness that causes time away from work.

Novelis' plant in Berea melts down recycled cans to produce sheet ingots for use in the production of new aluminum beverage cans.

Kentucky Labor Cabinet's Department of Workplace Standards Commissioner Michael Dixon presented the award at the plant Thursday.
