LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Beam Inc. makes all its bourbon in Kentucky, and now the company is branching out with a corporate presence in the Bluegrass state.
The Illinois-based company that produces the Jim Beam and Maker's Mark brands is opening a Global Business Services Center in downtown Louisville.
Beam said Monday that the business center will be staffed by 30 employees handling duties ranging from finance to human resources.
The company says it expects to add to the center's workforce in the future. The center opened last fall in a temporary work space in nearby Shepherdsville, Ky.
Beam employs more than 875 people in Kentucky at its manufacturing plants in Clermont, Boston, Frankfort and Loretto.
The company has about 400 workers at its headquarters in Deerfield, Ill., and about 3,400 employees worldwide.
