Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - A group of baby falcons nesting at Duke Energy in New Albany are now officially fitted with ID bands.

Duke Energy and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources banded three 7- to 8-week-old peregrine falcons on May 22.

The bands will help officials monitor the genetics and health of the birds, as well as provide information in changed population, habitats and migratory behaviors.

A nesting spot above the Gallagher Power Plant was added in the 1990s.

Those falcons though didn't begin nesting at the plant until a few years ago..
