LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville Metro Police's SWAT team cleared an apartment on Cedar Court in Beecher Terrace after a reported shooting.

Police initially responded to a shooting just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of Cedar Court. According to police, a man in his early 20s was shot in the leg with non-life threatening injuries and was taken to University Hospital.

LMPD’s SWAT team, bomb squad, and hostage negotiators were all on the scene for more than four hours. Police went door to door getting residents to evacuate their units because of safety concerns.

Police eventually went in to a unit when they were unable to make contact with anyone, but no one was inside.

“At some point between getting police the information and being able to secure the apartment either that person was able to get away or was never in there initially, “LMPD spokeswoman Carey Klain said.

The first division obtained a search warrant to look for evidence that may have been involved in the shooting. The police have not made any arrests. Anyone with information is asked to call 574-LMPD.
