Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - On Tuesday a 75 page report commissioned by JCPS outlines numerous problems and gives recommendations that Board Chairman Steve Imhoff says he wants to implement. Those problems include hiring practices, very high salaries and less experienced teachers working in high poverty schools, among other issues.
The recommendations include eliminating a total of 36 positions and re-establishing 31 positions. Auditors say there should only be four chief officers including academics, operations, financial, and community relations.
The report provided a dismal look at Gheens Academy and recommended eliminating nine directors and re-staffing them with upgraded positions and people with doctorate degrees.
Imhoff and Superintendent Donna Hargens both say they are looking at each recommendation.
