Louisville, Ky. (WHAS) – Louisville Metro Animal Services received a helping hand from a small screen celebrity Saturday to raise awareness about spaying and neutering your pets.

Animal Planet’s ‘Pit Boss’ star Shorty Rossi made a stop in Louisville to spread his message about pitbulls and why he believes they get a bad rap.

“Pit bulls have a negative reputation because of the human population, not because of the breed themselves,” Rossi said. “People forget in the ‘30s and ‘40s they were nanny dogs. It was Little Pete from the Rascals. It was the military poster dog. These dogs are great does. I live alone with 8 pitbulls [and] I’m still here.”

LMAS hosted the educational even and it also supported Hand in Paw rescue.

Lil Cheezers will host an event Saturday evening where 10 percent of every purchase will be given to their cause.
