LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Cancer survivors in Kentuckiana have a chance to “stand up” to the disease locally with an event hosted by the American Cancer Society.
Cancer survivors and those who advocate against the disease are invited to participate in a viewing party in partnership with the nationally televised Stand Up to Cancer telethon on September 5.
The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Jefferson Community and Technical College in the Health and Science Hall room on Broadway.
There is a $15 registration fee that will include refreshments during the event.
The American Cancer Society says money raised from all viewing parties will help support lung cancer research.
The telecast will include performances by The Who, Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande, Common and others.
