LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- If your boss offered you $5,000 to quit, would you take it?

That's exactly what's happening to employees at Amazon warehouses across the country including Shepherdsville and Jeffersonville.

It's called the Pay to Quit program and it's not meant to reduce the work force but instead, to make sure employees really want to be there.

Employees are offered $2,000 to quit during their first year. Amazon hopes they'll say no.

The amount goes up $1,000 each year with a $5,000 maximum.
