ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) -- An Elizabethtown man shot by Kentucky State Police after they say he threw a knife at an officer is now out of the hospital and behind bars.
53-year-old Gerald Scheppa was arraigned Wednesday in Hardin County.
Troopers say Scheppa was hiding from them in the woods behind his Hodgenville road home when they came out for a welfare check.
That's when they say he threw the knife and an officer fired his gun in reaction.
Scheppa is charged with assault.
