Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- Louisville is remembering a local ophthalmologist who taught those around him so much about living.

We first introduced you to Dr. Mark Jaggers in 2010 and told you his amazing story of survival in a Positively Kentuckiana Report.

He had outlived all predictions after being diagnosed with an inoperable tumor 16 years earlier.
He had been an air force pilot, but after all his medical treatment he had a new calling in life,  in medicine.

He died on Friday July 13 after a tumor began rapidly growing.

One of his former colleagues in medical school reached out to us saying, he turned a death sentence into drive to reach out and help others.
