LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Many stories developed from Saturday’s Kentucky Derby Festival miniMarathon race.
The men’s race ended with a photo finish and a couple was engaged at the finish line.
A 76-year-old woman was the oldest person to finish this year’s race.
New Mexico resident Barbara Coffey travelled to Louisville to do the race with her daughter.
Coffey’s daughter held up a sign telling people how old she was which garnered a lot of support along the race route.
“A lot of people said, ‘Well you’re an inspiration for me to do this 20 years from now’,” Coffey said.
Coffey finished the race in just under four hours.
She plans to return next year.
