LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The number one safest city in the state of Kentucky has been announced.

According to a new study by SafeWise.com, the safest city is Prospect.

It earned the number one spot with the lowest reported property crime rate in the entire state.

Prospect had only one violent crime, which was reported back in 2012 and the latest census figures show Prospect has the highest per-capita income in the state.

Here's a look at a few other cities making the top 50 in kentucky:

  • Hodgenville was number three on that list, with no murders or arsons and the third lowest reported property crime rate in the state.
  • La Grange was also on the list at number 23, boasting a low crime rate and a thriving downtown area.
  • At number 30 was Jeffersontown, which is the largest city on the list and has a low crime rate.   It offers job opportunities with a nearly 30 percent higher median household income than the state average.

Louisville didn't make the top 50.
