LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- After a year of pain, a Louisville family said it is getting some justice a loved one who was killed along Interstate 64.

Chad McQuilling ran out of gas while traveling along I-64 last September. He pulled to the side of the interstate when he was struck and killed by Craig Backherms.

Backherms was convicted of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid. Tuesday he was sentenced to three years in prison in connection with McQuilling's death.
