The owner of Seattle's Cupcake Royale confirmed Thursday that she has applied for a license to sell marijuana.

Owner Jody Hall stressed that if the license is approved "no marijuana or marijuana products will be sold at any Cupcake Royale stores."

Hall applied for the license as Royale Leisure Industries, LLC. The application lists a business location of 1111 E. Pike Street. She admits however, and the Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) confirms, it would be illegal for her to sell marijuana or any marijuana products at that location because of its proximity to Cal Anderson Park.

Hall said she plans to open a separate business at a different location to offer "a sweet edible that contains marijuana."

A spokesman for WSLCB says Hall's application has not yet been processed. It is one of the more than 2,000 applications for retail pot permits submitted under I-502.
