FORT KNOX, Ky. (News Release) – More than one hundred soldiers from the 233rd Transportation Company returned to family and friends following a year-long deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The soldiers were deployed in Operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom and were welcomed home during a ceremony at Natcher Physical Fitness Center on Sunday.

While serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, the 233rd Transportation Company convoys completed a total of 125 missions, covering more than 4.6 million miles and transporting more than 124,000 tons of cargo without damage, loss, or combat injury to its soldiers.

The 233rd Transportation Company will be relocated to Fort Stewart in Georgia in October to better support the training needs of the unit and transportation needs of the three heavy brigade combat teams at Fort Stewart.

This is the unit’s seventh deployment since 2003.
