(KMOV) -- A hotel is supposed to be a safe and comfortable place for your family but one Illinois hotel security guard is accused of drinking on the job and watching pornography in full view of kids.
One woman provided to News 4 pictures that she says are proof of the bad behavior happening at the Holiday Inn in Mount Vernon. What’s worse: she says management ignored it all.
She felt so shocked and degraded she told News 4 she had no choice but to quit. She now has a new job, but told me she felt she had to speak out to get the horrible behavior to stop.
"He’s a pervert, a bad pervert,” said the woman only identified as Tiffany.
"How often would be watch porn in the business center?” asked Reporter Lauren Trager “All night, all week,” Tiffany said.
Tiffany worked the front desk and says even children noticed the behavior.
But that wasn't all: she says the man verbally and sexually harassed her and other female employees
"He has smacked me in the butt, on the ribs, in the arm,” she said.
Police told News 4 a delivery driver reported the guard was drunk at work.
"He drinks on the job all the time,” Tiffany said.
All this, Tiffany says, was brought to management's attention in this hotel.
Thursday, we were told the manager wasn't in. He didn't return our calls either.
The parent company for the Holiday Inn brand told us they take the allegations very seriously and say they will follow up, but note this hotel is independently owned and operated.
The company issued this statement in regards to this incident:
“IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), owner of the Holiday Inn® brand, holds the safety, comfort and well-being of all guests and employees as our top priority and concern. We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are following up as appropriate. The Holiday Inn Mount Vernon, IL is a franchised hotel, which is independently owned and operated. IHG does not control the day-to-day operation of this hotel, nor does it employ anyone there. All further questions should be directed to the Holiday Inn Mount Vernon.”
"I'm very upset, very angry.” Tiffany said.
Tiffany says for awhile, she was afraid to speak up.
Now she doesn't want other employees or hotel guests to have to deal with this.
"This needs to be stopped to make this a better family oriented hotel,” she said.
News 4 will stay on top of it and let you know what happens.
