INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Police say two people have been shot in Indianapolis and several people are being detained at the scene.
Sgt. Kendale Adams says one of the victims shot Sunday is in critical condition. He says the other is in good condition.
The shooting happened on 38th Street on the city's east side.
The Indianapolis Star reports the shooting occurred at a clothing store and police have cordoned off the area.
The Star says Sunday's shooting is the fifth within 16 hours.
The rapid pace of violence has caused officials to grasp for control. A plan announced earlier this month would rely largely on social services and community interest.
Last year, Indianapolis had 125 homicides, its highest tally in seven years. This year, violence is on track to outpace 2013.
