SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Police say two pedestrians were killed when they were apparently hit by separate vehicles along a highway near South Bend.
The two men were hit late Monday near the intersection of Indiana 933 and a local road just north of South Bend that's lined with a convenience store and other businesses. Police say the two were hit at nearly the same time and within about 20 yards of each other, with one driver leaving the scene and the other stopping.
St. Joseph County assistant police chief Bill Thompson says investigators have talked with a couple witnesses but were still working to sort out what happened and find the vehicle that drove away.
The identities of those killed weren't immediately released.
